Mary Berry’s one-pan honey chicken dinner recipe only takes 30 minutes to cook

There’s nothing better than something homecooked for dinner, and you can quickly make something delicious as long as you have the right recipe.

Mary Berry’s piquant honey chicken with tomato and peppers only takes 10 minutes to prepare before it simmers away on the stove for around 15 to 20 minutes

She first shared this delicious dinner in her cookbook ‘Quick Cooking’ where she said the dish to “guaranteed to become a family favourite.”

Mary added: “Making a dish from scratch doesn’t have to be time-consuming, and nothing beats good home cooking in terms of flavour or nutritional value.”

This is the perfect recipe for when you want something hearty and tasty but do not want to spend ages cooking over a stove. Plus everything is cooked in one pan to save on the washing up.

Instructions

To begin, prepare the ingredients. Thickly slice the onions, crush the garlic cloves, drain the jar of pepper and cut into wide long strips.

Cut chicken breasts into diagonal thin strips, then season with salt and pepper. Toss the chicken strips into a bowl with the runny honey to fully coat them.

Heat a frying pan over a high heat on the stove and then add the two tablespoons of oil and the chicken strips.

Cook for around eight to 10 minutes until golden all over and cooked through. You may need to cook the chicken in two batches to not overcrowd the pan. Once cooked, remove the chicken with a slotted spoon and then set aside to rest on a plate.

Lower the heat to medium-high and add the onions to the pan. Cook for two to three minutes until they have softened, and then add the garlic and fry for 30 seconds.

To make the sauce, measure all the sauce ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Pour the sauce into the pan with onion and garlic and then add the jar of pepper slices.

Return the chicken to the pan and cover it with a lid and bring the mixture to a boil, Reduce the heat and then simmer for around five minutes until tender.

Your tasty chicken one-pot is now ready to serve. Mary Berry highly recommends serving with mashed potatoes and your favourite green vegetable.
