The high-scoring game between the two sides saw Islamabad United seal the deal by defeating Shaheen Shah Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars by 8 wickets.

English batter Alex Hales added 36 runs while opening the innings, but it was the effort of skipper Shabad Khan, who played a magnificent 41-ball 74-run knock, and Agha Salman, who contributed with 31-ball 64 runs and took their side to a victory.
Islamabad United chased the total with 10 balls to spare and eight wickets in hand. To start a new edition of the PSL, it was a sensational effort from the Islamabad United players as they outplayed the defending champions of the Pakistan Super League with such ease.
