Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several updates in her Budget 2025 regarding the reduction in customs duties that could make various imported goods more affordable. Here’s a quick look at how these changes will benefit consumers:

Valentine’s Day shopping just got cheaper. A DeBeers platinum ring, previously priced at Rs. 2.50 lakh, will now cost Rs. 10,000 less thanks to a 5% reduction in customs duty. - Imported Beds and Mattresses on Sale
Sweet dreams are now at a sweeter price. An imported IKEA bed and mattress set, once priced at Rs. 65,000, will now be available for Rs. 63,725 after a 2.5% cut in customs duty. - Imported MacBook Pro Prices Drop
For those bringing back a MacBook Pro from a foreign trip, a price drop is on the cards. The laptop, which used to cost Rs. 3.46 lakh, is now set to cost Rs. 3.37 lakh with a reduced customs duty rate of 35%. - Imported Motorcycles at a Better Price
Imported motorcycles are now more affordable. A Kawasaki Ninja H2 750CC, previously priced at Rs. 23 lakh, will now be Rs. 1.64 lakh cheaper due to a 10% reduction in customs duty. - Imported Sofas at Reduced Prices
Imported luxury sofas are also getting cheaper. The Couch Potato leather sofa, which once cost Rs. 6.90 lakh, will now cost Rs. 6.76 lakh after a reduction in customs duty from 25% to 20%. - Historic Memorabilia Now More Affordable
Own a piece of history for less. A Mike Tyson-signed boxing glove, which was originally priced at Rs. 22,400, will now cost Rs. 19,400 following an 18.5% reduction in customs duty on items imported for personal use. - Imported Lighting Fixtures Now Cheaper
Brighten up your home with premium lighting. A “Lights of Scandinavia” LED chandelier, previously costing Rs. 2.33 lakh, is now available for Rs. 2.28 lakh due to a 5% reduction in customs duty on luminaries and lighting. - Solar Panels Now More Affordable
Embrace sustainable living for less. Installing solar panels on your rooftop is now cheaper, thanks to a 4% reduction in customs duty on imported solar modules. - Imported Interactive Flat Display Panels More Expensive
On the flip side, imported interactive flat display panels will now be costlier. The customs duty on these items has increased from 10% to 20%, making them less affordable for those looking to upgrade their home or office tech.
