Sometimes, there’s nothing better than indulging in a sweet treat after your dinner.
And while shop-bought desserts will often do the trick, you can’t beat a homemade pudding – especially if you’re also hosting friends or family.
One easy yet indulgent treat you can make at home is chocolate mousse.
There are so many chocolate mousse recipes to choose from, all requiring just a handful of ingredients.
And Gordon Ramsay’s take on the dish makes use of one extra ingredient for added creaminess.
His simple four-ingredient chocolate mousse recipe, originally published in Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Fit Food, features avocados – a fruit more typically associated with brunch and other savoury meals.
Avocados are more versatile than you might think, however, adding richness, creaminess and a smooth, silky texture to chocolate mousse.
They are a good source of fibre and healthy fats, as well as several vitamins and minerals.
They can help with everything from digestion and weight management to heart health.
With that in mind, here’s everything you’ll need to try Gordon Ramsay’s recipe yourself at home.
Gordon Ramsay’s avocado chocolate mousse recipe
Ingredients
- Two large ripe avocados, peeled and stoned
- Three to four tbsp runny honey, to taste
- One tsp vanilla extract
- 50g raw cacao powder
Method
Place the avocados into a food processor and blend until smooth.
Add an initial three tablespoons of the honey with the vanilla and cacao powder and blend again until the ingredients are completely combined.
At this point, give the mixture a taste and add more honey if desired.
Spoon the mousse into eight shot glasses or similarly sized containers and put them into the fridge for an hour before serving.
